Mulberry Stars
Machine - all day - 20 students.
Skill level - beginner, intermediate.
Another test of your piecing skills! You will learn to make these 6: Ohio Star blocks accurately. You will also learn Jo's method of making the inner pointy border that fits, and her pressing tips!
The blocks are framed and have red cornerstones for an accent, the accent is repeated with the red pieced inner pointy border, a fabulous addition to your quilt collection. This quilt is made using my lines with Andover Fabrics.
We will need
- Sewing Machine in good working order with a 1/4" foot. (bring your good sewing machine, the one you usually sew on and do your best work on)
- Scissors, pins, seam ripper (in case), .7 mechanical pencil.
- Extra needle for machine, wound bobbins.
- Ott light (optional, you may want additional light, depends upon the class room lighting)
- Thread - 100% fine cotton thread, like Presencia 50 wt or Aurifil 50 wt in a neutral shade such as tan, taupe or light brown.
- Rotary cutter (with good blade) and small ruler (4" x 4" or 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" Omnigrid ruler with the 1/8" grid, and 6" x 12" suggested sizes) - we will be cutting smaller pieces and 24" rulers are overkill and take too much room.
- Small cutting mat (or several large cutting mats to be shared)
Fabric needed to make the quilt

- batting - 100% cotton - Mountain Mist Blue Ribbon recommended for vintage appeal for either hand or machine quilting (can be obtained later)
Classroom needs - a couple irons and ironing boards/mats and a table for teachers gear.
