Learn about quilting during the Great Depression and make a darling little quilt with an antique touch. This class for beginners and others will introduce you to the scrappy 1930s look and the easy technique of fusible applique.


MATERIALS

1/4 yard each of two different light pink prints (or checks) for block backgrounds
1/4 yard total of assorted pastel 1930s reproduction scraps for blocks (enough to make 60 hearts - some colors will be repeated)
1/8 yard of green 1930s reproduction print for borders
1/8 yard of medium pink 1930s reproduction print for borders
5/8 yard of backing fabric
1/4 yard of yellow print for binding
17" x 21" piece of cotton batting
1/4 yard of lightweight fusible web (I prefer Light Steam-A-Seam 2)
12 assorted pastel buttons



GENERAL SEWING AND QUILTING SUPPLIES

  • sewing machine in good working order
  • rotary cutter and mat
  • acrylic ruler
  • needles, pins, scissors, seam ripper
  • neutral-colored thread for piecing
  • neutral-colored thread for hand quilting
