VIRGINIA BOUND - SUPPLY LIST

If Using Recycled Clothing:

Blocks

6 light shirts in a variety of prints, stripes, and plaids cut into strips of various widths from 1 - 3-1/2 inches. Strips and strings can taper from narrow to wide for extra interest.

6 dark shirts in a variety of prints, stripes and plaids cut into strips of various widths.

Outer Border

A variety of dark green shirts cut into 3 inch wide strips, a variety of dark blue shirts cut into 3 inch wide strips, a variety of light blue and neutral-colored shirts cut into 3 inch wide strips. A size XXL mostly solid orange shirt cut into 3 inch wide strips, 1 red plaid shirt cut into 3 3/8 inch strips.

Inner Border

1/2 yard dark blue or a variety of dark blue strips leftover from the block prints.

If Using Yardage: Look for plaids, stripes and prints resembling men's shirts.

Blocks

2 yards of a variety of light neutral colors cut into strips of various widths.
3-1/2 yards of a variety of dark colors cut into strips of various widths.

Outer Border

3-4 fat quarters of a variety of dark greens cut into 3 inch wide strips.
3-4 fat quarters of a variety of dark blues cut into 3 inch wide strips.
3-4 fat quarters of a variety of light blues and neutral colors cut into 3 inch wide strips.
1/2 yard orange cut into 3 inch wide strips.
1 fat quarter red, cut into 3 3/8 inch strips.

Inner Border

1/2 yard dark blue or a variety of dark blue strips leftover from the blocks

Binding: 3/4 dark blue cut into 2-1/2 inch strips or a variety of leftover block fabric.
Backing: 6 yards

Tools: Size 90/14 denim needles for foundation piecing, 1 pad of 8-1/2 x 11 inch transparent tracing paper.
