THE NINE PATCHERS - SUPPLY LIST

#1 Supply: Sewing machine in good working order that you are familiar with.
Please bring instruction manual to class if available.

Basic: Cutting mat and rotary cutter with a new blade.
Ruler- best size is 6x 24 inches but a 6 x 12 will work
Iron and ironing pad or a thick towel
Note: ironing stations can be shared
Pins:flat Needles, New for piecing and quilting
Several empty bobbins
Scissors
Pencil/ eraser, several sheets of typing paper.

Sewing machine feet:
Regular piecing foot
Applique foot or zig-zag
Free motion Spring foot or walking foot

Fabric
Pillow front: 7-9 coordinating fabrics for the pillow front, one light fabric that is 12.5x12.5 in size. 1-3 choices of light colors for pillow center would be great.
Other fabrics the most needed is 1/8th of a yard. You are bringing more than you need but without knowing exactly which background you will pick it is best to have a few extra more than you need.

Pillow back: 1/2 yard. This fabric can be the same as one of the front fabrics or contrast.

Binding: 5"x fabric length (40"+inches) contrasting color

Applique: 10-20 scrap pieces to make ninepatcher and accessories. Pieces don't need to be over 10" square in size and lots of contrasting colors and patterns work best.

Absolutely need:
5" square of white or off white for eyes
5" square of brown/black solid for eyelashes and ball hands
3" square of solid color blue-brown green for eyeballs
20" square of light colored scrap fabric for pillow front inner backing
Thread
Thread for piecing- bring your standard
Thread for quilting- bring a variety so you can play

Notions: 1/2 yard of fusible, Pellon Wonder Under or Steam a Seam Lite
18x18" Pillow form Hobby Lobby Brand use their coupon it's a good deal and the best form you can get.
20x20" Batting, the thinner the better. Thermore batting for quilted clothes.
Seam ripper nice and sharp. Very Important
